Cristina has been passionate about the field of immigration law since 2007. In the last ten years, she has gained extensive experience and knowledge of the immigration system in Canada, including its relevant procedures, applications and legislation. Prior to joining Shim Law, she defined her skills by working for medium and large immigration law firms and gained valuable HR-immigration experience as in-house immigration consultant for reputable multinational oil and gas, engineering and procurement companies here in Calgary. She completed her university education in Romania by obtaining a Bachelor Degree in Law Sciences (B. Law/LL.B) and a Post Graduated Majoring Studies Diploma in Corporate Contractual Law (PGD.Law). She also graduated from the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants’ Academy and obtained her professional Designation as Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) with the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC) short after. Before arriving in Canada in the spring of 2005, she was employed by the Ministry of Culture Affairs as Personal Counselor to the Honorable Minister of Culture in Bucharest. She also worked as a Consultant in Cultural Projects for UNESCO Romania, and as Legal Counsel for a private Romanian import-export company. Both professional backgrounds helped Cristina to overlap and successfully explore the law and the cultural side of her outgoing personality. It also helped her to understand how to empathize with people coming from a variety of cultural upbringing, which equally helped her to successfully integrate into the great Canadian multicultural society. Due to this unique blend between law and culture, she has been able to lay a strong foundation in her business relationships with clients, business partners, employers, and fellow colleagues.
