About Celine
Celine Bhathal is a Full IB Diploma student, graduating with honors in her studies.
She feels privileged to be the recipient of this scholarship, as it will allow her to focus on her post- secondary education.
Celine will be studying at the University of Calgary this fall, pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering as she strives to innovate medical technology for those who cannot easily access healthcare services.
She strongly believes in People, Purpose and Planet. From a young age, she valued the importance of giving back to the most vulnerable in her community by regularly donating and delivering perishable foods to the Calgary Food Bank, as well as preparing food hampers for the thousands of families that rely on the food bank. Celine also donates meals to the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House (RMH), interacting with the guests and learning their stories, reminding them they are not alone in their journey. In these unprecedented times, Celine took on the challenge to raise over $300 to have a meal catered to RMH from local businesses, as they also struggled due to the impacts of the pandemic.
The planet’s health and sustainable development is an issue which Celine takes very seriously because the current climate change impacts human life, as well as land and ocean ecosystems. She donates gently used items to Making Changes, providing clothing and resources to empower young girls and women. She also grows her own herbs and vegetables to reduce dependency on mass- market grocery chains.
After graduating university, Celine hopes to work with an organization that values the importance of giving back to the community and focuses on the need for sustainable development.
